An Ideal Husband

An Ideal Husband

Wilde!

A delightful Wildean comedy revolving around extortion and corruption in London high society. Sir Robert Chiltern, a member of Parliament and pillar of the community, is being blackmailed by the mysterious and villainous Mrs. Chevely, who threatens to destroy him. Mischievous young aristocratic dandy and confirmed bachelor Lord Goring, whose philosophy of life can best be summarized as “To love oneself in the beginning of a lifelong romance,” intervenes, and a series of hilarious misunderstanding and comic blunders ensue. Oscar Wilde at his comic best! Running Time is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, including one 10 minute intermission.

Reviews

Secrets are what 'Husband' is about ... What makes this production a little different is (Director) David Oliver at the controls, a man who studied and worked in the English theatre ... Oliver is working with a strong cast, especially (Ben Michael) Moran, (Steve) Jakiel ... (Kristen Tripp) Kelley, (Chris) Kelly and (Andrea) Gollhardt ... a show worth seeing because it is so classic and so modern in yet another election year ... Wilde is worth seeing any time." - Augustine Warner, speakupwny.com

"Buffalo's Irish Classical Theatre is doing what they so often do best ... Leading the troupe is the fabulous Chris Kelly ... (Kate) LoConti has become a favorite of the ICTC and for good reason, her grandeur is perfectly balanced with a coy sense of evilness ... A true highlight of the evening lay in the casting of Ben Michael Moran as the plucky young English dandy, Viscount Goring ... Steve Jakiel, as his father, ... has some clever and quite hilarious encounters with his son ..."  - Michael Rabice, broadwayworld.com

TOP 5 SHOW OF THE WEEK! - "... filled to the brim with intrigue, laughs, and of course, Wilde's signature wit.  (Director David) Oliver's actors own the space ... (Chris) Kelly, in particular, shines.  He is magnificent, captivating ... (Kate) LoConti commands attention ... from her first entrance to her last exit ... a fine production." - Nathan Andrew Miller, nytheatreguide.com
